LIVE Q&A WITH FILMMAKER NIKITA PARIKH
Date:
Wednesday, 19 March
Time: 7:30 pm to 8:30pm
Location: (Not) The Last Supper Room, Mary Lodge Bandra, Bombay.

At Subko, our core ethos centers around harnessing the impact of storytelling as a unifying force that forges connections and spans cultural divides. A testament to this vision is 'ON AIR', our effort to spotlight multimedia narratives originating from the Subcontinent.

This month, we have partnered with Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) to curate a week-long screening of independent films as part of their DIFF On the Road initiative. These films will screen every hour in our On Air rooms in Mary Lodge Bandra, Bombay and Ajji House, Bangalore, from 17 - 24th March.

Join us as we welcome the filmmaker of Making Space, Nikita Parikh, for a live Q&A session moderated by Aakanksha Jadav on Wednesday, 19 March from 7:30 to 8:30pm at (Not) The Last Supper Room, Mary Lodge Bandra, Bombay. We recommend you catch a screening of Making Space prior to the Q&A for an engaging conversation with Nikita. Making Space is screening hourly from 31 min past the hour to 45 min past the hour at our On Air rooms.

What to Expect:
7:30 - 7:45 pm : Introduction by Aakanksha Jadav and Nikita Parikh
7:45 - 8:30 pm : Live Q&A session

About Nikita: Nikita came to filmmaking through working with children. She travelled to classrooms across the country making videos for Teach For India. During her Masters degree in Education at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, she started researching and using participatory media with teenagers.

About Making Space: Alsana lives in a small but chaotic neighbourhood in Ahmedabad. In a place like this, a room of one's own is hard to come by but Alsana has been given a corner. Only her own rules apply here. 13 mins | Hindi (with English subtitles)

About Aakanksha Jadav:
Aakanksha is a researcher-writer and film programmer based in Mumbai, India. She has curated films across various genres, including animation, children’s films and non-features, for prestigious Indian and international festivals including Dharamshala International Film Festival as part of their programming team.

About DIFF On the Road:
DIFF On the Road is a year-round initiative by Dharamshala International Film Festival through which they continue to bring independent films to audiences and communities beyond Dharamshala. By organising screenings throughout the year, the programme offers opportunities to experience diverse and impactful films outside of the festival, and cultivates wider networks of solidarity and mutual support within the landscape of independent cinema.

About On Air:
Our exclusive spaces in Mary Lodge, Bandra and Ajji House, which are designed to spotlight multimedia narratives originating from the Indian Subcontinent and its neighbouring regions. These specialized rooms serve as a dynamic platform, hosting a monthly series of curated video screenings.
