About the Process

Dobarra Washed - This is a washed process coffee where after harvesting the coffee fruits are fermented for 24 hrs, then they are pulped after which they are fermented again for 24hrs with the muscilage. The coffee is then washed and then taken to drying upto 11% moisture.

This double-washed coffee (also known as Dobarra Washed) is carefully roasted in an omni-roast profile, giving it a buttery texture, soaked raisin with a honey-like thick body, and an oolong coffee blossom, ending with a sweet malic touch reminiscent of apricot and green apple finish.

About the Farmer

Thamarla Prasadrao

Thamarla Prasadrao, 36, enjoys Telugu cinema and action movies, although he doesn't have a favourite. His interests include playing volleyball. Prasadrao's simplicity shines through his love for maintaining a clean home.

He's skilled in dancing during village festivals and works from 8 AM to 4 PM. With 20 years on coffee farms, he savours Gummadi Roddalu (Pumpkin Leaves) and Bostharu Pikkalu Koora.

A sustainable, farm-to-table-to-farmer operation by Subko

Founded by Subko Specialty Coffee Roasters and Craft Bakehouse, the Subko Co-op initiative finds its roots in the village of K. Thadiputtu in Andhra Pradesh. Concentrating its efforts on the holistic advancement of the 'Subko Village,' Subko Co-op has adopted a cluster comprising six tribal farmers from K. Thadiputtu village in Paderu, Andhra Pradesh. With a dedication to bringing these individuals to the forefront of the third wave of coffee, Subko Co-op seeks to not only empower these farmers but to also nurture growth within their entire community.

This initiative is focused on tribal farmers who cultivate coffee on government-allotted lands. With an attention on driving direct trade, sustainability, and hyper-traceability, the initiative embodies a commitment to elevating the agricultural landscape in the world of coffee. This endeavor aims to adopt more such clusters in the future. Furthermore, Subko Co-op envisions the establishment of training centers, designed to empower and educate both farmers and their families, paving the way for them to become coffee professionals and authentic representatives of their cultural legacy and heritage. Subko Co-op’s objective is to emerge as a transformative force, reshaping the narrative of coffee cultivation by amalgamating sustainable practices, cultural preservation, and community empowerment, and to narrate origin stories and recognise every stakeholder who puts their heart in coffee cultivation.
