[27th FEB | DEL] SIP & TALK | The Extra(Mural) City
This Friday, we gather at LoCol, Delhi for an evening that approaches the city as something we move through and converse with.
The (Extra)Mural City: Street Art, Demos, and Public Space, a talk in collaboration with the St+Art Foundation and unLecture, looks at how street art changes the way we experience public space and how shared walls shape everyday urban life.
Marking a decade of the Lodhi Art District, the session reflects on how creative interventions reshape neighborhoods, spark dialogue, and negotiate visibility, regulation, and ownership in contemporary cities.
Date: Friday, 27th February 2026
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Space: Diwan-i-khaas (Mezzanine Floor)
Location: LoCol by Subko, Delhi
What to expect from the talk: Over the past ten years, Delhi’s walls have become a living gallery. This unLecture defines street art and clarifies how it differs from graffiti, murals, public art, and community practices. It looks at its political origins, its relationship with democratic space, and how it activates overlooked neighborhoods while navigating gentrification and control.
The session considers the city as both play and participant in everyday life, tracing how creative practices shape how neighborhoods are understood and inhabited.
About the Speaker: Sanchita Khurana is an Assistant Professor in English at Mata Sundri College for Women, University of Delhi. Her research focuses on urban aesthetics, popular culture, street art, and theories of radical democracy. She studies how creative practices interact with the social and political life of contemporary cities, with particular attention to Delhi’s evolving public art landscape, including the Lodhi Art District.
The session includes a Harissa Grilled Sandwich (Half: Cheese/Chicken) and any one espresso-based beverage of your choice. Please pick your preference during checkout.
